Good car with major engine problem
By New Honda Owner | on Monday, April 30, 2018
During the first 3000 miles I would have rated the CRV excellent in most categories. It is comfortable and roomy for both myself at over 6 feet tall, and my wife at 5 feet tall. The acceleration and gas mileage (25mpg around town) are both very good. I miss having a heated steering wheel and vented seats, which are not available on the CRV. However, at 3200 miles a serious engine problem showed up. At 70mph the car suddenly slowed, lost power, the check engine light came on, and multiple electrical systems reported malfunctions in the dash display. The car was towed to the Honda dealer and diagnosed with excess gas (approximately one quart) in the oil. The oil and filter was changed as a temporary solution, and a tech line case was opened with Honda. I was told at this time there is no permanent recall or fix. I was advised that this is a known problem in cold climates where the car is used for short drives and does not warm up completely. Since then I have learned that all CRVs with the 1.5 liter turbocharged engine have been recalled in China for the same problem. If you live in a cold climate I would not recommend this car at this time.… - 1.0
At 4500 miles .... Gas in the Oil !
By Gas in my oil ! | on Wednesday, May 23, 2018
Wow....Major oil dilution is occurring. No I dont take short trips, 15 mile Hyw. commute. Honda said they are looking into it but wouldnt do anything else. I said they had a major recall in China for the same reason and had offered extended warranties. The reply was, they are studying the problem. Ok study Honda...but the fact is any one whom has a quart of gas in their oil is having their engine compromised. I dont think any study is necessary on that fact. So dragging your feet is not being up front or valuing your customers. CRV EX 1.5 T… - 1.0
I want to love this car but
By Cliff | on Saturday, April 07, 2018
The turbo engine in the EX and above models has a major problem. Fuel is getting into the oil. Oil level rises. This problem has been reported on 2016 - 2018 models but no fix yet. Im hopeful. Other than that, this is a great car, but I cant recommend it to others. Just do a web search…
